About Me

Galina Kislin, M.A.CCC-SLP

Some Background-

I have been  a pediatric speech and language pathologist for over 23 years. I have dedicated my time primarily helping children with various communication disorders. I also have extensive training in feeding/swallowing and oral motor disorders.

With more than two decades of experience working in settings such as Early Intervention, Pediatric Outpatient Clinic and Private Practice, I never anticipated adding virtual therapy on my resume. The Covid-19 Pandemic which resulted in school closing as well as shutting down private clinics gave me no choice but to quickly pivot and learn this new platform.

Although, some children and parents were able to adapt to telehealth fairly well, others struggled. Many parents were responsible for working full time to support their families and were not able to fulfill the role of the therapist or teacher during virtual sessions. Many younger kids required complete supervision. This was truly a daunting task, because my sense of responsibility  to my clients and their families was highlighted even more.

While in survival mode, I was aware of how many of my colleagues and new speech pathology graduates lost their jobs or were not able to find new ones.  Gratitude for having a job was enough to motivate me to help. This is when Thera-tutoring was born.
